| Coalition for a Healthy and Active America |
The Coalition for a Healthy and Active America (CHAA) was formed in 2003 by concerned organizations and national leaders to educate parents, children, schools, and communities about the critical roles physical activity and nutrition education play in reversing the alarming trends of childhood obesity.
As a non-profit national grassroots coalition, CHAA is a vigorous advocate for developing healthy and active lifestyles for America's youth.
Ultimately, we believe that those the responsibility for our children’s health rests with parents, not government. However, policy makers can play a positive role in addressing children’s health by encouraging schools to implement the surgeon general’s recommendation of 60 minutes of physical activity everyday for school-aged kids. Nutrition education should be expanded and modernized. And finally, be cautious of food bans and taxes. Dietary restrictions only encourage overindulgence by those most at risk.
