Looking for a Purpose in Life?

The hope of Outdoor Adventure Spirit is to someday reach a point where we can make a notable contribution to our community and society.  While our plan is under development, we would like to direct you to those organizations that not only align with our own Mission, but have already made a positive impact to that which we regard important to our lives.

  Bookmarks Description
AAHPERD AAHPERD is an alliance of six national associations, six district associations, and a research consortium which support healthy lifestyles through high quality programs.

American Hiking Society American Hiking Society: the only national organization dedicated to serving hikers and protecting hiking trails.

American Hiking Society was formed in 1976 to provide a national and collective voice for hikers and to help bring foot trail dreams into focus. Join us as we commemorate three decades of promoting hiking, protecting foot trails and being the voice for hikers across the nation.

Whether you enjoy day hikes in area parks or week-long backpacking trips in the wilderness, American Hiking Society is working every day to make sure your next hike is your best one yet.

Coalition for a Healthy and Active America The Coalition for a Healthy and Active America (CHAA) was formed in 2003 by concerned organizations and national leaders to educate parents, children, schools, and communities about the critical roles physical activity and nutrition education play in reversing the alarming trends of childhood obesity.

As a non-profit national grassroots coalition, CHAA is a vigorous advocate for developing healthy and active lifestyles for America's youth.

Ultimately, we believe that those the responsibility for our children’s health rests with parents, not government. However, policy makers can play a positive role in addressing children’s health by encouraging schools to implement the surgeon general’s recommendation of 60 minutes of physical activity everyday for school-aged kids. Nutrition education should be expanded and modernized. And finally, be cautious of food bans and taxes. Dietary restrictions only encourage overindulgence by those most at risk.

Elves and More Our MISSION:

  • Identify impoverished children whose needs are not being met
  • Design programs to meet some of those needs, focusing on entire communities, initially emphasizing a major Christmas toy give-away
  • Mobilize financial and human resources to implement those programs

  • Tighten bonds within the community to establish broad fundraising support and to secure dedicated volunteers for assembly and delivery of bikes, gifts and school items.
  • Initiate a disciplined area-wide search for the poorest neighborhoods, with emphasis on achieving representative ethnic diversity
